The Only Gift

Good morning dear readers!

I'm sure you're all busy, wrapping Christmas presents, doing last-minute Christmas shopping, and if you're a photographer, there's a high chance you'll be out and about taking Christmas card photographs to give to friends and family. Well, same here! :) You may also be completely out of Christmas card photo ideas, as was I before one of my creative inspiration moments. Today, I want to inspire you to think out-of-the-box...

I actually didn't exactly come up with my idea out of nothing. My mom gave me a little quote she wanted me to somehow use, and everything just went on from there. The quote was "Jesus... the only gift the world can't live without." First I thought I should put a colourful wrapped gift or something out in the snow and photograph it from an interesting angle with maybe some bokeh in the background; but that was just too common. Then I considered all kinds of other different ideas, and settled on one that really struck me as perfect...

Brightness/Contrast and Colour Balance Adjustment

What I wanted to convey through my photo was that Jesus was the greatest gift we ever received. He came to us in the humblest of packagings...

...washed us with His blood (red ribbon)...

...and we were made as 'white as snow'.

This is how my set-up looked like from afar. And yes, if you really do want to 'borrow' the idea you may, just as long as you comment and let me know. :)

I also had some fun with the red ribbon...
