And so February gives way to March, & March, after putting a rosy tinge on the flower buds, slips into April. April brings with it spring showers & then turns into May, with the scent of freshly-cut grass lingering in the air. And May rapidly rolls into June & July & then August, all full to the brim with delightful sunshine. And following swiftly on silent feet come September & October, with fall breezes, a delightful palette of autumn colours, muddy boots, & cinnamon goodness. November, rainy & dreary, but quiet & understanding, passes by. December arrives. Glorious, wonderful December. With hope, joy, pink cheeks & noses, evergreen broughs, powdery snow, & much laughter. And then January steps in again, full of promise as always. And today, January 10th, is my birthday. The day I turn fifteen.
Many, many things have happened over the past year. I'm thankful for them all - the happy & the sad. I'm thankful for all the lovely blogger friends I got to know (you guys are so sweet. all those birthday wishes on my timeline... I'm so incredibly blessed! <3). I have grown & changed, & I still have a long ways to go. This is just another bend in the road. A new, untrodden path, twisting & turning ahead, beckoning me onwards. I can't wait to start on this new adventure.
many, many hugs to you sweet friends!! <3

Christine || birthday portraits
On a lovely rainy day, a couple of days before her birthday, I asked Christine to come out to the backyard with me for a birthday photoshoot. She was kind of reluctant at first, because she hates it when I chase her around with my camera (so guilty), but I did, eventually, persuade her. And yes, I had to do/say quite a few funny/crazy things to make her laugh, but all in all, we had an amazing time! :)
You might have noticed that the above photos are edited (just basic touch-ups, no actions or anything like that), but still, none of them are SOOCs. Quite unusual for me, but I really wanted to try something different, and I'm very satisfied with the results. Your thoughts? :)

Dear Mom,
dear mom,
Today is your birthday, and I made this wallpaper just for you! <3
I want you to know that you're amazing. Thank-you for always being there for me... for all of us. Your patience and faith are a great example. And your abillity to make a room seem brighter with only your presence is priceless.
I'm blessed to have you as my mom!

Fourteen.
Today, January the tenth, two-thousand twelve, is the day I turn fourteen. :) I remember when I was little, I used to get all excited on the week leading up to my birthday. I'd be going around the house trying to find my birthday present! :D These past couple of years though, the excitement has rather diminished. I mean, I still think of today as a special day, I just don't go around telling EVERYONE just how excited I am. It's kind of funny coming from me though, 'cause when I was little, I thought adults weird because they didn't make a big deal out of their birthdays. No parties?! That's unthinkable. And yet I don't have parties anymore either. My little six-year-old self would be horrified! :P
You know, having your birthday ten days after New Year makes it kind of hard finding a topic for your birthday post. I can't do resolutions, because I did those already, things I accomplished/learned last year, that's done too, so I'll just do birthday plans, oh, and dream cake!
So today I'm giving away a couple of my prints on my photography blog (keep an eye out for that. I'll have the giveaway posted later in the day), and I'm also going out to get Soul Surfer with my mom!
I've been wanting to see this for so loooooooong! Can't wait! As for my birthday dream cake (the one I have is really good, but this one just looks awesome on the outside)...
The only thing wrong with it is that it's a Nikon... I want a Canon. :P
So anyway, I'm off to... celebrate my birthday! :) Many thanks to everyone who's already sent me sweet birthday wishes. I really appreciate it!
Yours truly,

"Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." ~ Psalms 127: 3-4
Happy Birthday, Bobbie! From the very bottom of my heart! :)
