Growth... A Photography Challenge by Emily Grace

The theme of this photo challenge is growth. You find a photo you took last year, and re-take it. By doing so, you get a chance to see just how much you've grown in your life as photographer this past year. :)

So, I was just browsing through some old photos from last year, and I have to say, they're horrible! What's wrong with them you ask? The angles are the most uncreative ones that ever existed, negative space is in places it should not be, power points ignored... I could go on forever! I should perhaps also mention that I didn't have a DSLR last year, and all my pictures were taken with a point-and-shoot, a not-very-good-point-and-shoot. Of course, if you're a good photographer, you can take amazing pictures with pretty much any camera, the problem with me was that last year, I was not a very good photographer. If you'd mentioned the terms "bokeh", "leading lines", or even "power points" to me last year, I'd probably stare at you and go "Huh?" I know, embarrassing... However, this past year I've learned SO much about photography! It means a lot more to me now than it did then... photography has become much more than a pastime activity. "Discovering the Beauty of God's Creation... one Click at a time..." is something I want to keep doing, for the rest of my life!

Now I shall present to you my October 2010 photo:
SOOC Shot
I won't start criticizing it, because that would mean writing the longest blog post in the world. ;P

And now my October 2011 photo:
SOOC Shot

So, which one's your favourite? ;)

  2. Wonderful improvement, Eve! The composition, focus, and everything about it is much better than your first shot. (plus it has bokeh--what could get better than that! ;) )
